I first heard Leon Bridges at Outside Lands Music Festival a few months ago. The experience was amazing, save for the fact that my camera was dead (that’s another story for another time). I got to see some of my favorite artists, including George Ezra, Chet Faker and Mumford & Sons.
My friends and I arrived around noonish and George Ezra’s set didn’t start until around three so we waited at his stage, watching each act before him and slowly making our way to the front. The first act on the stage was a gospel and soul singer by the name of Leon Bridges. I remember when he first came out onto the stage, dressed in a dapper blazer and a maroon fedora. He brought me back to the times when my mom would play James Brown in the car; I felt like we were all transported into the 1960’s. While all of his music is worth a listen, here are some of my favorites.
We listened to his entire album during my trip to Big Sur and it felt just right. Enjoy these tracks and hope you’re having a great week so far!
