As I mentioned in my last post, my best friend Bryn and I took a girls trip to Palm Springs for a day. For a majority of the time, I used my iPhone to capture my experience; the only time I used my camera was for actual portrait work! This whole day counts for my shoot for the month of April, and my first ‘destination’ shoot for the year! In addition to visiting art installations, our plans for the day mostly consisted of shoots on shoots on shoots. Multiple locations and outfit changes all around Palm Springs? Yes, please!
First, let’s talk about outfits. (I mean, who doesn’t love talking about outfits?!). A lot of these pretties were borrowed from Bryn’s and our friend’s closets. The oversized jean jacket belonged to Bryn’s mom back in the 90’s and both of the longer dresses came from Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie. However, I did contribute one outfit to this shoot: a beige and white checkered skater set from Tobi. The color scheme was just too perfect not to bring to the desert! Even though I’m not pictured in this post, I wore this floral romper from Tobi for the day and it was so comfy! For photographers and models looking for cute outfit inspiration on a budget, visit Tobi’s website, for real.  All of these outfits helped me achieve this vision that I’ve had for so long.
For a few years now, I have been wanting to visit Moorten’s Botanical Garden, particularly their cactarium. Their famous greenhouse displays rare cacti and succulent plants, making it a must-stop during our trip to Palm Springs. 10/10 would recommend stopping here if you are plant lover! I must admit, I loved shooting at the wind turbines! After researching endlessly for a specific spot I had seen around on the internet, with sheer force of will, I found it. We had pure golden light, no buildings or mountains to block our view. I had forgotten how much I love shooting during sunset.
Desert portraits might be my new favorite thing! If you want to see my favorite photo from this set, scroll to the very bottom. ♡
